Are you concerned with fine lines and wrinkles?
Fear not, CPAesthetics is on hand to offer some fantastic age defying treatments, to help you look and feel your best.
What are fine lines and wrinkles?
Fine lines are shallow lines that appear on the face, usually around the eyes and mouth, as you get older. The first fine lines often appear in your 30s at these areas as they get the most use when we make facial expressions. These lines tend to be static lines, AKA they are there without expression.
As we get older these fine lines turn into wrinkles. They can be found in other areas of the face too, not just around the main expression points.
What causes wrinkles?
In a word, age. As we get older the collagen and elastin in our skin starts to break down and our body is not as good at replenishing it. The lack of these natural youth enhancers causes wrinkles in the skin. Other factors such as sun damage, smoking and genetic factors also play roles in how quick the skin shows signs of ageing.
Reducing wrinkles
Skin care products with active ingredients like hyaluronic acid and retinol will help to fade these lines. To reduce wrinkles, we recommend using retinol products twice a week. Be careful to use the right concentration of retinol depending on your age/depth of the lines. 0.1% is best for older patients to start with, whilst 0.5% is best for younger patients. A good skin care regime will also help to prevent premature aging. Removing any makeup, cleansing, toning, serums, and moisturiser will all aid to keep the skin at its best. We also recommend exfoliating the face twice a week, but no more, to remove any excess oil or debris from the skin.

It is important to note that some treatments help to lessen dynamic lines (wrinkles and lines caused by repetitive facial action). Static lines (present without facial expression) are not treated in the same way and can still be present. However, they often lessen or do not get worse as those muscles that cause them are in a more relaxed state and so do not cause the same creases in the skin.
